COLOURFENCE EDITORIAL COPIES

COLOURFENCE EDITORIAL COPIES

INTRODUCTION TO BRIEF

The brief for this project was to create a series of editorial press advertisements promoting Colourfence’s range of high‑quality fences and sheds - products known for their durability, long lifespan and stylish colour options. The campaign needed to communicate how Colourfence’s patented materials withstand typical British weather conditions, offering customers a low‑maintenance alternative to traditional timber fencing. A key part of the brief was to highlight Colourfence’s free, no‑obligation quote and brochure service, encouraging readers to take the first step toward upgrading their outdoor spaces without committing immediately. These press ads were designed to introduce the brand’s benefits clearly and confidently, giving potential customers enough information to spark interest and guide them toward a future purchase.

BRIEFING THE PROBLEM

The Colourfence brief came with several core challenges that shaped the direction of the editorial campaign. The first was reaching readers who not only have gardens but are actively considering long‑term improvements - a demographic that needs to feel confident that the investment is worthwhile, as fencing and shed installations are not low‑cost purchases. The ads therefore had to communicate value clearly and persuasively, emphasising how Colourfence products outperform traditional options in both durability and maintenance.

Another major challenge was establishing trust. Because outdoor home improvements require significant financial commitment, readers needed to believe in the brand’s promise of longevity. This meant placing durability at the forefront of the messaging, highlighting Colourfence’s ability to withstand typical British weather conditions, resist rust and rot, and maintain its appearance for years. The editorial layouts had to balance practical information with visual reassurance, ensuring the audience understood that Colourfence is not just stylish but genuinely built to last.

Together, these obstacles required a careful blend of clarity, credibility and visual appeal, guiding the campaign toward a set of press ads that positioned Colourfence as a reliable, long‑term investment for homeowners seeking both function and aesthetic improvement.

PROCESS AND TOOLS

I produced the Colourfence editorial copies in Adobe InDesign, developing layouts that communicated durability, style and long‑term value with clarity and confidence. Working closely with the Colourfence marketing team, I shaped the copy and visual hierarchy to ensure the adverts told the full story behind the brand, from the patented materials to the weather‑resistant engineering that makes Colourfence a reliable investment for homeowners. Their direction was central to refining the messaging, helping me align each creative with the company’s wider marketing strategy and ensuring the tone felt both trustworthy and approachable.

The design process involved structuring information in a way that highlighted the key selling points without overwhelming the reader. I focused on strong editorial hierarchy, clear calls‑to‑action and visual emphasis on the free, no‑obligation quote and brochure — essential conversion tools for readers considering a significant home‑improvement purchase. By combining brand‑consistent colours, product imagery and clean typography, the final layouts presented Colourfence as a durable, stylish and dependable solution for garden upgrades.

OUTCOME

The final Colourfence editorial campaign resulted in a diverse range of press copies, each crafted with a slightly different point of focus to keep the brand’s promotional messaging fresh and engaging across multiple publications. These variations allowed Colourfence to highlight different strengths, from long‑term durability to stylish colour options, while maintaining a consistent editorial voice and visual identity. Each advert featured detailed, reader‑friendly copy supported by genuine customer testimonials, showcasing how Colourfence installations had become valuable, transformative additions to real gardens. Including the brand’s Excellent Trustpilot rating further reinforced credibility, helping readers feel confident in the quality and reliability of the product.

The campaign was published not only in national newspapers but also across smaller regional and local titles, strategically expanding reach into rural and suburban areas where homeowners are more likely to have gardens and therefore more likely to become customers. This targeted distribution helped Colourfence connect with its core demographic effectively.

Overall, the editorial copies contributed to a noticeable uplift in enquiries and sales, strengthening Colourfence’s presence in the press and supporting their wider marketing strategy with a set of adverts that were both persuasive and commercially impactful.
