BEACH CLUB BEVERAGE LINE BRANDING

INTRODUCTION TO BRIEF

The brief for the Beach Club Beverage Line Branding project was to create a vibrant, tropical visual identity for a bottled cocktail brand aimed at a young adult audience. The branding needed to feel fresh, summery and instantly evocative of beach culture, using tropical imagery and colour palettes that matched each flavour in the range. The flavours (cranberry, watermelon, raspberry, guava, lime and pineapple, all vodka‑based cocktails) required their own distinct visual cues while still feeling part of a unified brand world. The objective was to design labels that were eye‑catching on the shelf, flavour‑forward, and appealing to a demographic that values bold aesthetics, fun experiences and strong visual storytelling. The brief encouraged a playful yet polished approach, ensuring the final branding felt premium enough for a cocktail product while still capturing the carefree energy of a tropical getaway.

BRIEFING THE PROBLEM

This project came with several creative challenges that shaped how the Beach Club branding needed to be approached. The ready‑to‑drink cocktail market is extremely saturated, so one of the biggest problems was ensuring the designs didn’t feel like just another fruity cocktail brand. The visuals had to stand out on the shelf, communicate flavour instantly and feel genuinely desirable to young adults, all without blending into the sea of existing tropical, colourful beverages.

Another key challenge was finding the right balance between fun and premium. The brief called for bright, flavour‑led colours and playful tropical imagery, but leaning too far into a luxury aesthetic would strip away the carefree charm that makes Beach Club appealing. At the same time, going too playful risked making the product feel cheap or basic. The branding needed to sit confidently in the middle: vibrant, youthful and summery, yet still polished enough to signal quality.

The timeframe added another layer of difficulty. With only a week to produce a full suite of flavour‑specific labels, there was little room for extended exploration or iteration. Decisions had to be made quickly and confidently, from colour palettes to illustration style, while still ensuring each flavour (cranberry, watermelon, raspberry, guava, lime and pineapple) had its own identity within a cohesive brand world.

PROCESS AND TOOLS

I created the entire Beach Club branding in Adobe Illustrator, building every element, from the logo to the full set of flavour‑specific labels, through a fully self‑directed design process. I began by exploring a wide range of logo concepts, experimenting with type choices, tropical motifs, and visual themes that could anchor the brand’s identity. This early stage was about finding the right balance between playful, beach‑inspired energy and a polished feel that would still communicate product quality.

Once the logo direction was established, I moved into developing the label system. Each flavour (cranberry, watermelon, raspberry, guava, lime and pineapple) required its own distinct visual personality, so I explored colour palettes and illustrative cues that matched the fruit while still feeling cohesive across the range. Illustrator allowed me to refine shapes, experiment with layering, and build a set of graphics that felt bold, summery and instantly flavour‑forward.

This project was completed entirely independently, without liaising with anyone else. Every decision, from typography to layout structure, was guided by my own creative judgement and understanding of what would resonate with the young adult audience. The result was a unified, vibrant brand world that captured the tropical spirit of Beach Club while standing out confidently in a crowded market.

DEVELOPMENT

The development stage of the Beach Club branding centred on shaping a visual identity that felt playful, summery and slick - exactly the tone the brand needed to stand out in a crowded cocktail market. I began by sketching logo concepts that leaned into a light, feminine energy, using thin strokes, subtle flicks and fluid letterforms to capture that carefree beach‑day vibe. These early sketches helped establish the personality of the brand: youthful, fun and flavour‑forward, but still polished enough to signal quality.

While exploring ideas for the labels, I developed a concept that became a defining feature of the project: inflatable animals as the central motif. This felt fresh, unexpected and perfectly aligned with the tropical theme - a playful twist that hadn’t been done before in this product space. Each inflatable character offered a way to express flavour, personality and colour in a way that was instantly engaging for the young adult audience.

The logo itself evolved from one of the sketched concepts, forming a shape that incorporated a cocktail umbrella - a subtle but effective nod to beach culture and summer drinks. After refining the structure, proportions and stroke weight, the final logo emerged alongside a label frame that tied all flavours together into a cohesive system. This development process was entirely self‑directed, allowing the brand’s identity to grow organically from sketch to final artwork.

OUTCOME

The final outcome of the Beach Club branding project was a vibrant, flavour‑driven series of labels that clearly distinguished each cocktail in the range. Every flavour (cranberry, watermelon, raspberry, guava, lime and pineapple) was given its own identity through a combination of colour, the chosen inflatable animal motif and tailored visual accents. This made each bottle instantly recognisable while still feeling part of a cohesive brand world.

A subtle white trim was added around each label, helping the designs stand out cleanly on the bottle and giving the artwork a crisp, polished finish. The combination of playful imagery, bold tropical colours and the refined label frame created a look that feels exciting, summery and genuinely shelf‑ready. Altogether, the final set of labels delivers a brand that is fun, distinctive and full of personality - exactly the kind of product you could imagine catching someone’s eye in a shop or at a beach‑themed event.
